Kicking off NEW HOUSING 2026: A discussion on campgrounds and tiny houses—the perfect combination?!
For the third time, NEW HOUSING will kick off with a press conference open to the public. On June 26 at 10:30 a.m., experts will discuss camping and tiny homes.
People in Germany love camping. The numbers speak for themselves. There were nearly 45 million overnight stays in 2025—and the trend continues to rise. The German Camping Industry Association also expects record results for 2026.
Two reasons for the upswing: attracting new groups of visitors and extending the camping season into the winter. This is made possible primarily by tiny houses, mobile homes, and similar accommodations.
Experts will discuss this topic during the NEW-HOUSING press talk at the start of the event on June 26 at 10:30 a.m. The talk will be moderated by Christian Klerner. Together with his partner, he has successfully run the podcast “tinyon” for years, in which the two discuss their life in a tiny house. They also recently published their first book.
Klerner will be in discussion with Frank Schaal. Germany’s leading camping expert is the chairman of the German Camping Industry Association and understands the impact tiny houses have on the financial development of campgrounds.
Anna Lorenz will also be joining the discussion on stage. Lorenz is the deputy managing director at Camping Baden-Württemberg and works closely with campground operators.
Also joining the discussion will be Jan Henker. Henker is an expert in site development with over 16 years of experience managing complex real estate and transformation projects. Over the past four years, he has specifically built up expertise in the development and positioning of modern camping and leisure sites, establishing himself as an innovative camping planning professional. In this role, he is responsible for site analyses, operating models, and the holistic development of camping areas—from the initial vision to day-to-day operations.
Rounding out the panel is Katy Feldmann. The founder and entrepreneur runs tinyparks, which combine camping with life in a tiny house. Another exciting development: Interested parties can now become franchisees and operate their own tinyparks independently.
The talk will take place in the Aktionshalle at Messe Karlsruhe half an hour after doors open, kicking off NEW HOUSING 2026 and forming part of the Tiny Talks, a series of ongoing 30-minute presentations.
